The Munttoren ("Tower of the Mint") or de Munt is a tower in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It is
in the busy Muntplein square, where the Amstel river and the Singel canal join, near the
market of flowers and the eastern end of the Kalverstraat shopping area. The tower was
originally part of the Regulierspoort, one of the main gates of the medieval walls of
Amsterdam. The gate, built in the years 1480, was composed of two towers and a guard.
